Coffee Toffee Frozen Dessert

Ingredients
- 1 cup chocolate wafer crumbs
- 2 tbsp. butter, melted
- 1/2 cup butter
- 3/4 cup sugar, divided
- 4 egg yolks
- 1 (1 oz.) square unsweetened chocolate, melted
- 2 tsp. instant coffee granules
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 4 egg whites
- 3 (3/4 oz.) chocolate-covered toffee bars, crushed

Preparation
Step 1
Combine crumbs and melted butter; press into the bottom of an 8x8 inch baking pan or springform pan.
Beat butter at mdium speed with an electric mixer until fluffy. Gradually add 1/2 cup sugar, beating well. Beat in egg yolks, chocolate, coffee granules and vanilla; set aside.
Beat egg whites at medium-high speed until soft peaks form. Gradually add remaining 1/4 cup sugar, beating well. Beat in egg yolks, chocolate, coffee granules and vanilla; set aside.
Beat egg whites at medium-high speed until soft peaks form. Gradually add remaining 1/4 cup sugar, beating until stiff peaks form. Fold egg white mixture into chocolate mixture. Spread over crust. Sprinkle toffee bars over chocolate mixture. Freeze 3-4 hours or until firm. Cut into squares of slices.
Much nicer presentation when prepared in a springform pan.
Yields 6-8 servings
