Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups soft bread crumbs
- 3/4 cup milk
- 3 Tbsp onion, finely chopped
- 4 Tbsp oleo/butter
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1 cup stock or cream

Step 1
1. Soak crumbs in milk
2. Saute onion in 2 Tbsp butter until soft. Add to crumbs
3. Add beef, seasonings and egg. Mix thoroughly
4. Form into balls approximately 1 inch in diameter. Roll in flour.
5. Saute in remaining 2 Tbsp butter, 10 mins to brown. Add stock or cream, cover, simmer gently for about 20 mins.
6. Thicken gravy with flour and water and pour over meatballs.
*One recipe suggests using 1 packet (7/8oz) brown gravy mix. Prepare according to directions, to make the sauce.
