Ingredients

  • 1 Cup flour - measure into bowl
  • 1/2 Cup butter - cut into butter
  • 2 Tbsp water - sprinkle onto mixture and mix

Preparation

Step 1

Round into ball and divide in half
Pat dough with hands into 2 long strips (12x3)
Place on ungreased baking sheet 3" apart

Bring 1/2 cup butter and 1 cup water to a rolling boil
Add 1 tsp almond flavoring and remove from heat
Stir in 1 cup flour immediately to keep from lumping
When smooth and thick add 3 eggs, one at a time, beating until smooth
Divide in 1/2 and spread 1/2 evenly over each piece of pastry
Bake for 60 minutes at 350, or until topping is crisp and brown
Frost with icing and sprinkle with nuts or coconut (optional)

Icing
Combine 1/2 lb xxx sugar (1 cup), 1/8 cup milk, 1/2 tsp vanilla, 1/3 stick butter and beat until smooth
