Preparation

Step 1

1. Line a cookie sheet lined with foil. Cover pan evenly with matzoh boards, using what you need and cutting pieces to fit spaces as evenly as possible.
2. In a heavy saucepan, combine butter and brown sugar. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a slow boil. Allow it to boil for 3 minutes but keep stirring and make sure it doesn’t burn. Pour mixture evenly over matzah and use spatula to spread so all of matzah is covered.
3. Put tray in the oven at 375-400 degrees (depending on how hot your oven gets) and bake for between 6 and 15 minutes, checking every few minutes to make sure it doesn’t burn. You want it to bubble but not burn. Remove from oven if it browns too quickly.
4. Remove from oven and sprinkle with chocolate pieces. Let stand 5 minutes, then smear melted chocolate evenly. You may also sprinkle with nuts if you would like. Chill in refrigerator or freezer until set. Break into pieces and store in airtight container.
