Old Fashioned Rolled Butter Cookies

These are not too bland, like some rolled cookies. Note that there is a good frosting recipe included in the directions. I got this recipe from a "Bake and Take" class that I took.

Ingredients

• 1 cup butter
• 3/4 cup sugar
• 1 egg, unbeaten
• 3 cups flour
• 1 teaspoon baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 2 tablespoons milk
• 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
• 3 cups powdered sugar
• 1/3 cup butter
• 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
• 2 tablespoons milk

Preparation

Step 1

Cream 1 cup butter and sugar. Add egg and mix well. Add dry ingredients, then 2 tablespoons milk and 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla, and mix. chill dough. Roll to 1/2-inch thick. Bake at 400 degrees for 7-8 minutes.

For Frosting, beat together powdered sugar, 1/3 cup butter, 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla and 2 tablespoons milk.
