Ingredients
- 1 stick butter
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 2 cups sugar
- 5 egg yolks
- 2 cups flour
- 1 t soda
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 t vanilla
- 1 small can flake coconut
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 5 egg whites, stiffly beaten
- Icing
- 1 8oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 stick butter
- 1 box powdered sugar
- 1 t vanilla extract
- chopped pecans

Cooking time 25mins
Preparation
Step 1
Cream butter and shortening.
Add sugar and beat til mixture is smooth.
Add egg yolks and beat well.
Combine flour and soda and add alternately with buttermilk.
Stir in vanilla.
Add coconut and nuts.
Fold in egg whites.
Pour in 3 8in pans.
Bake 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
Icing
Beat cream cheese and margarine til smooth.
Add sugar and beat well.
Add vanilla and beat til smooth.
Sprinkle top with pecans.
Put wax paper on bottom of pans.
