Ingredients

  • INGREDIENTS:
  • oil (or as needed to keep your skillet lightly coated)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla (can use more)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1-3/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 10 slices of bread (French or Italian is the best)

Preparation

Step 1

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and brush on just enough vegetable oil to coat the entire skillet.

In a bowl whisk together the flour with baking powder, salt sugar and cinnamon.

In another bowl mix together the milk with eggs and vanilla.

Combine the wet and dry ingredients whisking just untilcombined.

Pour the batter into an 8 × 8-inch square baking dish.

Coat single pieces of bread into the batter flipping to coat both sides.

Place immediately on the hot skillet.

Flip when browned and brown the other side.
