Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 cups flour
  • 4 eggs (or 2 eggs and 4 yolks)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 t baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 t vanilla
  • 1 t lemon
  • 1/2 t almond
  • 1/2 t nutmeg
  • Icing
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 t vanilla
  • Coconut

Details

Cooking time 30mins

Preparation

Step 1

Grease and flour three loaf pans.
Bake 30-40 minutes at 300 degrees.
Cool.
Moisten with coconut milk.

Icing
Boil sugar and 1/2 cup water until it spins a thread.
Beat egg whites until stiff.
Add sugar syrup, beating all the while.
Add vanilla.
Spread layers and ice.
Cover with coconut.
Best to let sit a day or so in refrigerator.
