Ingredients
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 3-1/4 cup flour (2 cup white, 1-1/4 cup whole wheat flour if desired.
- 3/4 cup quick oatmeal

Step 1
Cream sugar and shortening.
Sift flour, salt, baking powder and soda. Add with buttermilk and oatmeal alternatively to creamed mixture. Mix well.
Pinch off a piece of dough the size of a walnut and roll as thin as possible on a lightly floured board using only flour necessary to keep it from sticking. Bake or fry at 350 to 375 degrees on a griddle for 8 minutes.
