Ingredients

  • 6 cooking apples (Cortland)
  • ¾ cup of brown sugar
  • 1 2/3 cup of flour
  • 3 tablespoons of baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • ½ cup of sugar
  • 1/3 cup Crisco
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 orange marmalade
  • ½ cup of milk
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar

Preparation

Step 1

1. Preheat the oven at 400 and butter 13x9x2 pan.
2. Peel apples and slice them and spread in the pan.
3. Sprinkle with brown sugar and put in the oven while preparing mixture.
4. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.
5. Add Crisco and cut finely with knives.
6. Beat egg and add marmalade and milk.
7. Add the dry ingredients and mix delicately.
8. Spread the mixture over the apples.
9. Mix sugar with cinnamon and sprinkle over the pan.
10. Bake 20-25 minutes.
11. Serve in squares with the caramel sauce.
