DORIS’ CUT OUT COOKIE RECIPE

An old recipe from my childhood. We would make these every Christmas!

Ingredients

• 1/2 cup shortening - part margarine
• 1 cup sugar
• 2 eggs well beaten
• 2 tablespoons cream
• 1 tablespoon vanilla
• 3 1/2 cups flour
• 2 teaspoons baking powder

Preparation

Step 1

Cream shortening/margarine. Add sugar and vanilla. Add dry ingredients and blend well. Shape into a ball, wrap in wax paper. I used Saran wrap and chill thoroughly.Roll out on a board that is lightly dusted with powdered sugar until dough is about 1/4 inch thick. Dip cookie cutter in powdered sugar each time before cutting cookie.

I always doubled this one. I made 9 recipes in '91 was too much so then made 6 which would be 3 doubled ones. It also can be used for cut outs which we also did.
