Ingredients

  • Sweet and Sour Dressing:
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds
  • 1/4 cup head lettuce, shredded
  • 2 medium stalks celery, chopped (about 1 cup)
  • 2 green onions with tops thinly sliced (about 2 tablespoons)
  • Sweet and sour dressing
  • 1 can (11 ounce) mandarin orange segments, drained
  • 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 bunch romaine lettuce
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon snipped parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Dash of pepper
  • Dash of red pepper sauce

Preparation

Step 1

Cook almonds and sugar over low heat, stirring constantly until sugar is melted and almonds are coated.

Cook and break apart.

Store at room temperature.

Shake all sweet and sour dressing ingredients in tightly covered jar, refrigerate.

Mix salad and dressing just before serving.
