Ingredients

  • 2 cups + 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 sticks (12 tbsp) unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg + 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup m&m's

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Line baking sheet with parchment paper, and set aside.

In medium bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt and mix to combine. Set aside.

In large bowl, mix the melted butter and sugars until combined. You can do this with an electric mixer or a whisk. Then add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla and mix to combine. Gradually add the flour and mix until a dough forms. Fold in m&m's.

To form the cookies, form 2 tbsp portioned balls, then pull each ball into two equal pieces. Turn each half so that the rough side of the half (what used to be the inside of the ball) faces upwards and squish both halves together. Place the dough rough-side up on prepared baking sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. The centers should be soft and puffy. It's important not to overbake!
