Nanna’s Sweet & Sour Sauce 0 Picture


  • Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 450 g tin pineapple pieces
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 large grated carrot
  • 2 sticks celery
  • 1 tbls tomato sauce
  • 1 tbls soy sauce
  • 1 tbls cornflour
  • 1/2 cup brown vinegar
  • 1 tsp grated ginger



Step 1

Chop onion, celery & carrot in the Quick Chef 2
Add water, sugar, onion, carrot, celery & pineapple to the base of the Stack Cooker
Microwave on high (800W) for 5 mins uncovered
Stir and return to the microwave for another 5 mins on high (800W) until bubbling and the sugar has dissolved
Mix together soy sauce, vinegar, tomato sauce, ginger and cornflour in the B2B Shake it Quick
Add to the sauce and stir well
Return to the microwave for 3 minutes on high (800W) then stir
If mixture is not thick the cook for a further 2 mins
Sauce can be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months

For Sweet & Sour Prawns
Stir fry 800g prawns until almost cooked
Pour over sauce and simmer for 2 mins until prawns are cooked through
Serve with rice

NOTE: you can substitute prawns for chicken or pork if you like
