Tips for Pet Rescuers

Dear Heloise: As a longtime pet rescuer, I've become aware that there is an increase in found and lost pets during wintertime. It's easy for pets to slip out during these times.

After the holidays, I'd like to remind the finders to post notices, check for microchips and look around the area for "lost pet" signs. Many rescue organizations and shelters can tell you about lost-and-found listings on the Internet, and, of course, the newspaper is a great resource.

Pets do get lost. Let's try to get them back home. Thanks.
