Ingredients
- ICING:
- 1 3/4 cups milk
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 cup plus 1 teaspoon sugar, divided
- 2 eggs
- 2 packages yeast
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 6 cups flour
- 1/4 cup margarine, melted
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons cinnamon
- 1/2 cup nuts, chopped
- 1/3 cup hot water
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- t tablespoons margarine
- 3 cups powdered sugar

Preparation
Step 1
ROLLS:
Heat 1 3/4 cups of milk, 1/3 cup shortening, 2 teaspoons salt, and 1/3 cup sugar over low heat until shortening melts.
Remove from heat, let cool; put into large mixing bowl. Beat eggs and add to mixture above.
Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water (110-115 degrees), add 1 teaspoon sugar.
Add egg and yeast mixtures to warm milk mixture.
Add 3 1/2 cups flour, beat until smooth (about 5 minutes). Add another 2 1/2 cups of flour to make a firm dough.
Turn onto floured surface and knead until smooth, about 5-10 minutes. Be careful not to add any additional flour, if possible.
Put into large greased bowl, turn greased side up, cover with a cloth or waxed paper. Let rise in a warm oven or other area for an hour, or until dough is doubled in size. (oven heated to 150 degrees, then shut off).
Punch down and let rise another 15 minutes.
Roll out dough, 1/2 at a time, sprinkle with melted margarine, 1 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup white sugar, cinnamon and nuts. Roll dough up tight.
Cut into rolls, put in greased baking pan.
Bake at 350 degreesm until done, approximately 20-25 minutes.
Apply icing as they come out of the oven.
ICING:
1/3 cup hot water
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons margarine
3 cups powdered sugar
Heat first three ingredients over low heat until well combined and margarine is melted.
Remove from heat and gradually add in powdered sugar until it reaches the correct consisitency for frosting.
