Ingredients

  • 1/2

    cup butter, softened

  • 1/2

    cup sugar

  • 1

    egg, lightly beaten

  • 1

    cup light molasses

  • 2 1/2

    cups all purpose flour

  • 1 1/2

    teaspoons baking soda

  • 1

    teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 2

    teaspoons groud ginger

  • 1/2

    teaspoon ground cloves

  • 1/2

    teaspoons salt

  • 1

    cup hot water

  • Butter or nonstick cooking spray

  • Whipped cream and orange peel (optional)

Directions

1. Beat butter and sugar together in large bowl. Add egg, molasses, flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and salt. Stir in hot water and mix well. 2. Grease inside of 2 to 3 quart crock pot with butter or non stick cooking spray. Pour batter into prepared stoneware. Cover; cook on high for 3 to 4 hours. Seve warm topped with whipped cream and orance peel, if dsired.
