Ingredients
- 4 cups flour
- 6 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 1/2 cupps raisins
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoons caraway seeds
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1/2 cups buttermilk

Step 1
Grease 2 quart round casserole
Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and soda
Cut in butter to coarse crumbs
Stir in raisins and caraway seed
Beat eggs; save 1 tablespoon
Stir in milk and egg until flour is moistened (will be
sticky)
Knead dough thoroughly
Place ball in casserole
Cut 4-inch cross 1/4 inch deep
Brush with reserved egg
Bake in 350 degree oven for 1 hour 20 minutes
Cool in dish on wire rack 10 minutes
Remove and cool completely
