Ingredients

  • Topping:
  • 6 firm apples
  • Cinnamon Sugar Butter
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tbsp. brown sugar
  • Black walnuts or broken pecan halves
  • 1/2 pint whipping cream

Preparation

Step 1

Pare, core and slice apples. Place apple slices in a buttered baking dish. Sprinkle each layer generously with cinnamon and sugar, and lemon juice. Dot each layer generously with butter. Continue layering with apples until dish is nearly full.

Topping:

Combine flour, sugar, butter, cinnamon and salt into a crumbly mixture. Sprinkle this thickly over apples. Bake in 350 oven until apples are tender and top is glazed. Serve hot or cold with whipped cream. Sprinkle with black walnuts or broken pecan halves over the top. Can be frozen.
Note: 1/2 cup flaked coconut may be divided between layers for a variation.
