Everybody loves this egg rich braided loaf of bread. A Jewish tradition everyone can love. One of the first loaves I learned to bake & boy is it good. Not as rich as brioche but a delicious eggy bread.

Ingredients
- Sponge:
- 2 cups flour
- 4 tsp yeast
- 2 cups water
- Dough:
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 7 cups AP flour
- 3 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup softened butter
- 4 eggs + 2 yolks (save the whites to make a wash
- 2 tsp sugar
- Poppy seeds

Step 1
Bread Machine Directions:
Mix flour, water & yeast (the sponge) together & Putin bread machine. Let sit for 45 min. After 45 min. Add dough ingredients. Set on dough cycle & start machine. When done turn out & divide & braid. Cover w/ plastic wrap & let rise for 45 min. Brush w/egg wash & sprinkle w/ poppy seeds & sugar. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 min.
