Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour
  • 6 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 2/3 cup Crisco
  • Around 2 1/2 cups of Buttermilk

Step 1

Preheat oven to 425.
Mix dry ingredients. Cut in Crisco. Add 1 cup of buttermilk and stir to mix, then add another cup of buttermilk and stir again. Add enough buttermilk to moisten all of the dry ingredients.
Oil cookie sheet, iron skillet or baking pan.
Have well floured hands and keep them floured through out the whole process of making biscuits. Take small amount of dough (whatever size you want the biscuits to be). Roll dough into a ball and place on oiled pan. After making all dough into biscuits, dip fingers into some of the oil in the pan and pat some on top and flatten the biscuit slightly. Place in hot oven and cook until golden brown around 20 to 30 minutes.
