Ingredients
- 2 sticks butter, softened
- 1/2 c shortening
- 3 c sugar
- 5 eggs, unbeaten
- 3 c all purpose flour, sifted
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp lemon extract
- 1 small (7oz) bottle 7-Up, a scant cup

Preparation
Step 1
Cream shortening, butter and sugar well. Add eggs and continue beating. Add flour gradually. Add vanilla and lemon extract. Last, add 7-Up slowly. Pour into a greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 325* for 1 hour and 10 minutes or until a wooden pick comes out clean.
Do not substitute any other carbonated drink and do not add any baking powder or salt.
