Ingredients

  • 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups sifted corn meal
  • 2 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup cooking oil

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400 F. Sift together dry ingredients. Stir together milk, oil, and eggs just to blend. Mix into dry ingredients just until blended. Pour into a well-greased 9-by-13-by-2-inch baking pan. Bake for 25 minutes or until an inserted knife comes out clean. Do NOT overbake. Cut into squares and remove from pan. Serve with lots of butter and honey if you like.
