Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup karo light or dark corn syrup
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 2 pkgs.(4oz. each) Baker's sweet chocolate, cut into large chunks

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 350

-Mix flour, baking soda and salt;set aside
-Beat butter and sugar in large bowl of electric mixer at medium speed, until light and fluffy
-Slowly beat in corn syrup, then egg and vanilla
-Beat in flour mixture until blended
-Stir in pecans and half the chocolate
-Spread evenly in ungreased 15 1/2x10 1/2x1-in jelly roll pan
-Sprinkle remaning chocolate on top
-Bake for 30 minutes,or until lightly brown
-Cool on rack
-Cut into 2 1/2 inch squares
