Ingredients

  • 1 box cake mix
  • 1 can buttercream frosting
  • orange food coloring
  • 1 bag orange chocolate
  • 1 bag lollipop sticks
  • 1 box orange sanding sugar
  • black fondant

Preparation

Step 1

Bake cake mix according to package instructions. Let cool to room temperature.
Break up cake into fine pieces the consistency of bread crumbs.
Tint 3/4 cup frosting with orange food coloring.
Mix the orange frosting with the cake pieces.
Using a mini ice cream scoop, scoop the cake mixture and roll the mix between your hands until smooth, like a meatball. Place the ball onto a cookie sheet. Follow this step until the cake mixture is gone.
Place the tray of pops into the freezer for 10 minutes.
In the meantime, place orange chocolate pieces in a bowl and microwave for 30 seconds at a time until the chocolate is completely melted, stirring the chocolate in between.
Dip a lollipop stick into the melted chocolate and then stick it into the cake ball.
Dip the entire cake ball into the orange chocolate and slowly roll it in the sanding sugar.
Cut out jack-o-lantern eyes and mouth from black fondant.
Stick the black fondant on with extra melted chocolate.
