Gramma Ida's Sweet and Sour Spareribs

I made these a lot growing up. Bread dipped in the drippings is really good.

Ingredients
- 3 1/2 pounds lean spareribs
- 2 onions, sliced
- 1/2 cup vinegar
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup water
- 2/3 cup canned pineapple juice
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Pepper to taste

Preparation
Step 1
1. Preheat oven broiler
2. Broil spareribs till brown on each side
3 Season with salt and pepper
4. Turn once
5. Place onions in dutch oven with 2 tablespoons fat
from broiler pan
6. Add rest of ingredients and meat
7. Cover and simmer over low heat for 2 hours
I seem to remember this having pineapple chunks in it,
so I'm guessing that's where the pineapple juice comes from.
