Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp flour
  • 3 Tbsp butter
  • 2 c milk
  • 1 block cheddar, grated (16 oz)
  • 1 ham steak, ground (we buy a cheap ham, grind it, and use it for several meals)
  • 16 oz macaroni (4 c)

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350. Cook macaroni. Drain.

In a large pot, make a roux of flour and butter, stirring constantly. Slowly add milk, stirring constantly, until mixture is well blended and thickened. Remove from heat. Add cheese and ham. Stir in macaroni.

Place in a greased 9×13 casserole dish and bake 30 minutes.

* To double, use 5 Tbsp flour and butter, 4 c milk, 2 blocks cheese, more ham to taste, and 7-8 c macaroni.
