Ingredients

  • Cake:
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 Tbsp cocoa powder
  • Icing:
  • 6 Tbsp milk
  • 4 rounded Tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 lb powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla

Step 1

Mix together in a large bowl eggs, vanilla and sour cream. In separate bowl, mix sugar, flour, salt, and baking soda. Add flour mixture to egg mixture. Stir well. In saucepan, cook butter, water and cocoa. Bring to a boil and add to cake mixture. Mix well. Pour into greased sheet cake pan (10 ½ x 15 ½) and bake at 350° for 20 minutes. While cake is baking, combine milk, cocoa and butter in saucepan for icing. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add powdered sugar and vanilla, stirring well. Ice cake as soon as you take it out of the oven.
