Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 4-1 ounce unsweetened chocolate squares
  • 2 cups flour (divided)
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • powdered sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Microwave butter and chocolate squares until melted; blend, then cool.

In large bowl, beat chocolate mixture, 1 cup of flour, the sugar, eggs, baking powder and salt.

Stir in remaining 1 cup of flour and nuts if desired.

Cover, refrigerate until firm, 2 hours or overnight.

Shape teaspoonfuls of dough into 1-inch balls; roll in powdered sugar.

Place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheets.

Bake in preheated 300 degree over for 12-15 minutes or until firm to the touch.

Remove to wire racks to cool.
