Poached Pear in Wine

A classic dessert that will make your guest think that they're eating at a fine dining restaurant but without all the fuse for the chef.

Ingredients
- 4 small pears
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 1/2 cup red dry wine
- Rind of 1/2 lemon
- 1/2 cup water
- Dash of cinnamon
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 tsp balsamic vinegar
- 1 star anise (optional)
Preparation
Step 1
Mix all in a saucepan.
Core and peel pear. Add to sauce and simmer 30 minutes or until tender. Remove pears.
Bring to a boil and reduce until syrupy. Place pears on a place and drizzle syrup.
Serve with whip cream and extra fruit such as fresh raspberries or blueberries.
