Ingredients
- COOKIE:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 egg
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. orange peel
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 2 Tbsp. dark corn syrup
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 1 Tbsp. water
- ICING:
- 1 egg white
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tsp. almond extract
- 1 - 2 Tbsp. water

Preparation
Step 1
Cream the butter and the sugar.
Add the egg, and beat until lemon-colored.
Stir in the orange peel, syrup and water.
Whisk together the dry ingredients and stir into the creamed mixture.
Gather into a ball and chill overnight.
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
Roll the dough out to 1/8-inch; cut with cookie cutters.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes
FOR THE ICING:
Mix together all ingredients, adding more water if necessary. Decorate cookies.
