Ingredients

• 3/4 cup shortening(part butter or margarine)
• 1 cup sugar
• 2 eggs
• 1/2 tsp vanilla
• 1/2 tsp anise flavoring
• 2 1/2 cups flour
• 1 tsp baking powder
• 1 tsp salt
• frosting

• 1 cup confectioners sugar
• 2 tablespoons of milk
• 1 tsp vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

mix shortening, sugar,, eggs and flavorings together thoroughly.blend in flour, baking powder and salt to make a dough. cover and chill at least an hour.

heat oven to 400 degrees. roll dough out on well-floured surface and cut into desired shapes. place on ungreased cookie sheets and bake 6-8 minutes until brown.

when cookies are cold, spread them with frosting.

spread with frosting made by combining 1 cup confectioners sugar, about 2 tablespoons of milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla.
