  • 2 tablespoons each:garlic powder, onion salt, ground red pepper, ground white pepper, paprika, cayenne pepper, ground cloves, ground cinnamon

Step 1

brown beef and onion in a large kettle over medium heat, breaking up beef with the back of a spoon. add twp quarts of water and then 2 tablespoons of the spices.

cook over medium heat until liquid has reduced by half( about two hours). If you must skim some of the fat off the top, wait until it has cooled. purists take ladles of it from the bottom and include some of the liquid.
