  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 2 pkgs or 4 1/2 tsp. yeast
  • 6 c. flour
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1/3 c. vegetable oil
  • 2 c. hot water

Step 1

Dissolve yeast in warm water. In separate bowl mix sugar, salt and 3 c. of flour. Add oil and 2 c. water. Stir well. Add yeast mixture, stir. Add remaining 3 c. flour. Leave covered with a towel for 10 minutes. Beat 1 minute. Cover and let sit for 10 more minutes. Do this a total of 5 times. Dump bread on a floured surface, turning until covered with flour. Cut in half. Roll each half into a 9x12 rectangle and roll up tightly. Seal edges. Lay bread, seam down, on a lightly greased jelly roll pan. Cut 1/4" thick diagonal cuts on top. Let rise 1 1/2 hours then bake 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
