Sausage Pizza Soup

Ingredients
- 1/2 lb. Italian turkey sausage links, casings removed
- 1 medium zucchini, sliced
- 1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup fat-free, less-sodium chicken broth
- 1 t dried basil
- 1/4 t. pepper
- I add some extra spices: oregano, crushed red pepper, more basil

Preparation
Step 1
In a large saucepan, cook the sausage, zucchini, mushrooms and onions over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain.
Add the tomatoes, water, broth, dried basil, red pepper and add'l spices (see ingredients) if desired.
Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes.
