- 1 bag ( 14 oz) light caramels ( 50 pieces)
- 2/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1 box( 18.5) german chocolate cake mix
- 3/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 cup chopped peanuts
- 1 bag(6oz) semisweet chocolate bits( 1 cup0

Preparation
Step 1
in double boiler, melt caramels with 1/3 cup of the condensed milk over hot water. ( caramels can be melted in microwave onmedium power, checking and stirring at 1 minute intervals) set aside, keep warm.
in large bowl, combine cake mix, butter, peanuts and remaining 1/3 cup condensed milk. mix well until crumbly. press half of dough evenly into greased and floured 9 x 13 inch baking pan. bake at 350 for 6 minutes. remove from oven, cool slightly. sprinkle chocolate bits evenly over baked dough, spread melted caramel mixture on top, working quickly with broad spatula. crumble remaining dough pver caramels, press lightly with spoon.
return to oven and bake 350 degrees for 14-18 minutes more, until top is set and mixture pulls from sides of pan.
