Ingredients

  • Dough:
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 2/3-1 cup milk
  • Filling:
  • 1 pound hamburger
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • pepper to taste
  • Finely chopped onion

Step 1

Dough:
1. Sift together flour and salt
2. Cut in shortening
3. Moisten with the milk
4. Mix for soft, but not sticky dough

Filling:
1. Brown beef and drain; cook with onion till onion is
soft
2. Roll the dough 1/8-inch thick.
3. Using a saucer, cut into circles.
4. Spread meat in center; fold in half; seal edges with
a fork
5. Drop into hot fat and fry slowly till nice golden
brown.
* Bake at 350 for 10-15 minutes.
