Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground chuck
  • 1 egg
  • ¾ cup soft whole wheat breadcrumbs
  • 1/3 cup chopped onion
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 ½ tsp paprika
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  • 1 (8-oz) can tomato sauce, divided
  • 8 large cabbage leaves
  • ¼ cup water

Combine first 7 ingredients; add ½ cup tomato sauce. Mix well, set aside. Blanch cabbage leaves in boiling water for 3-4 minutes, drain. Place about 1/3 cup meat mixture in center of each cabbage leaf. Fold ends of each cabbage leaf over; roll up, and secure with toothpicks.

Place cabbage rolls in a large skillet. Combine remaining tomato sauce and water. Pour over cabbage rolls. Bring to a boil; cover, reduced heat, and simmer 30 minutes. To serve, remove cabbage rolls to a serving platter; discard liquid.
