Slow Cooked Spaghetti Sauce

Delicious sauce.
"A very easy, stand-alone recipe. It's also a great base recipe, ripe for customization as shown by the comments! I have to admit I generally make a sauce based on a Mario Battali recipe, which is much more time consuming and costly. The Battali recipe creates a great sauce, but I often don't have the time (hours) to tend to it. This sauce is flavorful, adaptable, and the newest addition to my Big Oven collection.

Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef or bulk Italian sausage
- 1 medium onion; chopped
- 2 28-oz cans diced tomatoes; undrained
- 2 6-oz cans tomato paste
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 tablespoon Brown sugar
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 tsp Louisiana hot sauce
- 6 garlic Cloves
- 1 teaspoon dried basil; (up to 2 teaspoons)
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano; (up to 2 teaspoons)
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme; (up to 1 teaspoon)
- spaghetti; cooked, hot

Preparation
Step 1
In a skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink: drain. Transfer to a slow cooker. Add the next 10 ingredients. Cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours or until heated through. Discard bay leaf. Serve over spaghetti. Yield:6-8 servings
