"A light sponge cake soaked with a mixture of three kinds of milk. This is the BEST Tres Leches recipe I have. It is a very good cake recipe and the cake should be very moist."

Ingredients

  • Layer 1:
  • 3/4 cup butter softened
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 9 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 9 egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • Layer ll:
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 5 oz. evaporated milk
  • 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • Layer lll:
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Preparation

Step 1

1. Heat oven to 350.
2. Grease and flour a 9x13 pan.
3. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light
and fluffy.
4. Add the egg yolks one at a time, beating well after
each addition, then stir in vanilla.
5. Sift together the flour and b. powder.
6. Add the flour mixture alternately with the milk; beat
well after each addition.
7. In a large glass or metal bowl, beat egg whites and
cream of tartar until stiff peaks form.
8. Gently fold the whites into the cake batter using a
rubber spatula.
9. Spread evenly in pan.
1o.Bake for 25-30minutes, or till tests done.
11.Cool completely.
Layer ll:
1. Stir together in a small bowl.
2. Pour over the cake until it won’t absorb anymore.
* You may have ¼ to 1/3 left over.
Layer lll:
1. Whip the cream, stir in sugar.
2. Spread over cake.
3. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
4. Pour leftover milk onto plates and swirl in some jam
before setting cake on plates
