Washboard Cookies

I have no idea where the name for these cookies originated. My Mother made them quite often and my family has always loved them.

Ingredients

• 1 cup brown sugar
• 1/2 cup white sugar
• 3/4 cup shortening
• 2 eggs, beaten
• 2 1/2 cups flour
• 2 t. baking powder
• 1 t. baking soda
• 1 t. vanilla
• 1 cup nuts (optional)
• 1 cup raisins (optional)

Preparation

Step 1

Cream sugars and shortening; add eggs. Gradually mix in dry ingredients and vanilla. Add nuts and raisins, if desired.

Bake 10-12 minutes at 350 degrees.
