Kraut Burgers

A German favorite, these are easy to make and delicious. Goes great with a bowl of soup and they freeze well. Had these often when spending week-ends
in Garrison. Now I make them for us

Ingredients
- 1 small head of cabbage, chopped
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 pounds hamburger
- salt and pepper to taste
- Bun dough, frozen and thawed or your own recipe

Step 1
1. Cook cabbage and onion in skillet
2. Simmer till tender.
3. Drain.
4. Brown beef with salt and pepper and stir to crumble. 5. Drain well and mix with cabbage.
6. Thaw Rhodes frozen buns, setting out in the
morning on a greased sheet pan, cover rolls with
sprayed plastic wrap.
7. Roll or pat each bun to 7-8” circle.
8. Put ½ cup filling in the middle of the circle, bringing
edges to the center and seal.
9. Set sealed edge down on sheet pan (use the one
used to thaw the dough, it’s sprayed).
10. Bake at 350 until golden brown.
*Serve these with potato cheese soup.
*Omit the cabbage, add cheese slices to dough, then
add filling.
