Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs fresh figs stemmed and cut in half---use mission figs
- rind of 1 lemon grated
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 tspn vanilla extract or 1 bean split and scraped if you have it
- 1/2 tspn--or more brandy to taste

Step 1
Combine all ingredients in a heavy sauce pan
Bring to a boil and reduce to a simmer until figs are very soft and most of the liquid has evaporated==about 1 hour
==stir frequently to avoid burning
Keep in refrigerated container
should last a few weeks
