  • 3/4 pound (3 sticks) butter
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 8 oz of cream cheese at room temperature.
  • 9 large or 10 medium eggs
  • 4 cups sifted flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

¾ pound (3 sticks) butter

3 cups sugar

Cream well together and add 8 oz of cream cheese that is at room temperature.

Add 9 large or 10 medium eggs one at a time.


Sift 4 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder

Put flour in 1 cup at a time and beat well after each addition.

Pour 1/3 of the batter in a well-buttered 10 in tube pan. Sprinkle fruits and/or nuts over the batter and repeat until all used.

Bake at 350 degrees for 1-¾ to 2 hours. Wait 10 more minutes and turn out of pan.

Notes:

If using whole, frozen fruit pieces, toss first in flour to prevent the fruit from coloring the batter.

You can also use 2-8 oz jars of well-drained maraschino cherries.

If baking in a gas oven, reduce heat to 325 after the first hour and cook for another ¾ to 1 hour.
