Ingredients

  • 2 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cup butter, melted (if using margarine, use 2 Tb. less)
  • 1 (14 oz) bag caramels
  • 5 Tb. milk, cream or evaporated milk
  • 2 cups chopped pecans, optional
  • 1 pkg. chocolate chips

Preparation

Step 1

Combine flour, brown sugar, oats, baking soda and melted butter. Press two-thirds mixture onto bottom of 15x10x1” jellyroll pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, melt caramels and milk in top of double boiler, stirring constantly. Sprinkle chocolate chips and nuts on hot crust. Spread caramels over top. Sprinkle with remaining oat mixture. Bake 20 minutes longer. Cut into bars and eat when the chocolate has harden. Can add red and green M&Ms on top.
