- 6 tablespoons butter or 3/4 stick
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon real vanilla
- 2/3 cup flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350. Grease 8 inch square baking pan.
Combine butter and brown sugar in large saucepan, set over moderate heat. Stir often, until mixture is bubbly and sugar is melted. Set aside to cool slightly.
Beat eggs and vanilla, add to pan mixture. Combine flour, baking powder and salt and add to pan mixture, mixing thoroughly. Stir in pecans.
Spread batter evenly in prepared pan.
Bake approximately 30 minutes or until top is dry and toothpick comes out barely clean.
Cool and cut into squares.
