Ingredients
- 4 1/2 C flour
- 4 tsp ground ginger
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp cloves
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 C shortening
- 2 C sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 C molasses
- 3/4 C granulated sugar

Preparation
Step 1
In a medium bowl, stir together flour, spices, soda and salt. Set aside. In large bowl beat shortening, gradually add sugar, beat until fluffy. As eggs, molasses and beat well. Add half the flour mixture, beat to combine. Stir in remaining flour with wooden spoon. Using 1/4C scoop shape dough into 2 inch balls. Roll in sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet 2 inches apart. Bake @ 350* for 12-14 min until light brown and puffy. Let stand 2 minutes before transferring to wire rack. Cool. Makes 25 4inch cookies.
