Ingredients
- Dumplings:
- 3 tablespoons shortening
- 2 medium onions chopped
- 2 tablespoons Hungarian paprika
- Salt and pepper
- 3 pounds chicken parts
- 1 pint sour cream
- 1-2 teaspoons flour
- 2 cups flour
- 4 large eggs
- 1/4 to 1/2 cups cold water

Step 1
Melt shortening and add chopped onions and simmer until soft. Add 1 tablespoons paprika, and immediately remove from stove. Add salted and peppered chicken parts, adding paprika as you go. Let simmer slowly and keep turning until chicken is well coated with paprika and onions. Add water to cover chicken. Let simmer until chicken is tender. Remove chicken from pot, leaving all liquid. Add flour to sour cream and liquid in pot, stirring constantly until you get a creamy mixture.
Dumplings:
Mix flour, eggs and water to consistently where mixture will fall of spoon easily. Place dumping maker over salted boiling water in large pot. Pour mixture in cup of dumpling maker and push cup back and forth and continue filling cup until mixture is gone. Boil 10-15 minutes and drain. Rinse if desired. If dumping maker is unavailable, drop batter by teaspoonfuls into boilng water.
