Ingredients

  • 1 C. blanched slivered almonds
  • 3 T. plus 1/2 C. unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 3/4 C. flour
  • 1 t. baking soda
  • 1/2 t. salt
  • 1 1/4 C. sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 t. vanilla extract
  • 1 bag (1 lb.) candy cane flavored Hershey's kisses

Step 1

In mini chopper, pulse almonds until finely ground. Add 3 T. butter. Pulse until combined and fairly smooth.

In medium bowl, combine flour, soda and salt. In a large bowl, beat almond mixture and remaining 1/2 C. butter with electric mixer. Add 1 C. sugar and beat until smooth. Add egg and vanilla and mix well. On low, beat in flour mixture.

Form a heaping teaspoon of dough into a ball. Roll in the remaining 1/4 cup sugar and place on baking sheet covered with parchment paper. Repeat.

Bake at 375* for 12 mins. Remove from oven; press a candy kiss into the center of each cookie. Cool 2 mins. on pans before transferring to a rack to cool.
