Ingredients

  • 5 lg russet potatoes (peeled, washed & thinly sliced)
  • 1 lg onion (peeled & thinly sliced)
  • 2 tblsp salt
  • 4 tblsp butter
  • 3 tblsp flour
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 1 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Preparation

Step 1

Bring 2 inches of water to boil in a pan, add onions, sliced potatoes and salt.

Cover & boil for 5 minutes, drain.

Melt butter, whisk in flour.

Add milk and cook until thickened, stirring constantly.

Combine vegetables and cream sauce, place in a shallow casserole.

Bake uncovered at 400 degrees for approximately 35 minutes.

Sprinkle cheese over potatoes and bake additional 5 minutes or until cheese is melted.

Serve warm
